The rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage was 6.22% this week, up from 6.11% last week, according to Freddie Mac. A year ago, the rate was 6.67%. The rate for a 15-year fixed-rate mortgage was 5.54%, up from 5.5% last week. A year ago, the rate was 5.83%.

The Federal Reserve is not tracking the information needed to improve the efficiency and timeliness of processing applications for community bank mergers and acquisitions, the Fed Office of Inspector General concluded in a new report.
