At least 178 new financial institutions went live with or signed up with Zelle during the fourth quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025, according to a statement today by the payments network. The total number of institutions on Zelle is now more than 2,300, with 95% institutions either community banks or credit unions.
The 178 new financial institutions represent at least another 7.5 million bank and credit union accounts in 38 states, according to Zelle. Last year, the payments network helped U.S. consumers and small businesses send over $1 trillion.
