New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo today named Maria Vullo as superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services. Due to the size of the state’s financial sector, NYDFS actions are closely watched for ripple effects in other jurisdictions.
Vullo is a close ally of Cuomo who served as a top deputy when the governor was attorney general of New York. She oversaw investor protection, real estate finance, consumer fraud and other legal issues. She is now an attorney at Paul, Weiss in New York.
