Reading Time: 1 min read

The American Bankers Association nominating committee — chaired by Dorothy Savarese, chairman, president and CEO of Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, Orleans, Mass., — has selected a slate of candidates for association officer positions. The election will be held during the ABA Annual Convention, Oct. 21-23 in New York. Nominees are:

  • Chairman: Jeffrey M. Szyperski, chairman, president and CEO, Chesapeake Bank, Kilmarnock, Va.
  • Chairman-Elect: Laura Lee (Laurie) Stewart, president and CEO, Sound Community Bank, Seattle
  • Vice Chairman: James J. Edwards, Jr., CEO, United Bank, Griffin, Ga.
  • Treasurer: Luther Deaton, Jr., chairman, president and CEO, Central Bank and Trust Co., Lexington, Ky.

“We’re grateful that the nominating committee has delivered such a terrific slate of officers for the coming year,” said ABA President and CEO Rob Nichols. “These passionate industry leaders dedicate a tremendous amount of their time to represent America’s banks before Congress, regulatory agencies and across the globe.  We appreciate their expertise, leadership and dedication to our industry.”
