ABA is urging all bankers to sign its petition for regulatory relief for America’s hometown banks. With just days remaining before a government spending bill is due — the banking industry’s best chance for attaching reg relief provisions — signing the petition will raise pressure on members of Congress to act.
“We have a small window of time between now and Dec. 11,” ABA’s Rob Nichols said in a video released last week. “We are bombarding Capitol Hill with ads. We are pulling out all the stops to get it done.”
This week marks a crescendo in Pass Reg Relief Now advertising intended to reach members of Congress and their staff. Messages are appearing on multiple D.C. drive-time radio stations plus several Sirius XM stations, must-read morning newsletters, the Washington Post and Capitol Hill publication National Journal, and even apps like Pandora and Snapchat.
