The House Financial Services Committee’s Task Force to Investigate Terrorism Financing will hold a hearing on April 22 on global terrorism and terrorist financing. Witnesses in this one-panel hearing will discuss major terror groups such as ISIL, Boko Haram, Al-Shabaab, Hezbollah, and al Qaeda, and ways to choke off the groups’ funding.
The bipartisan task force was created in March to address efforts to identify and stop funding for terrorists. ABA staff last week met with committee staff to share insights and offer support, including recommendations from ABA’s “A New Framework for Partnership: Recommendations for Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Reform.”
