In his final speech as ABA Chairman today, Kenneth Kelly, chairman and CEO of First Independence Bank in Detroit, Michigan, highlighted the role ABA has played as a unifying advocate, an innovative catalyst and a trusted partner to the banking industry over the past year.
Kelly recapped several ABA-led efforts, including the ongoing push to right-size bank regulation, advocate for digital asset regulations that maintain a level playing field between banks and crypto companies, and help banks fight fraud. He also highlighted ABA’s work around artificial intelligence and workforce development.
In a closing call to action, Kelly urged bankers to “advocate, innovate, and partner” in the months ahead.
“What my experience in the banking industry, and this year as ABA chair, have taught me is that we are smartest, we are strongest, and we are most successful when we’re working together,” he said.
