Business inventories in January came in at $2.56 trillion, virtually unchanged from the month prior but up 0.4% from a year ago, the Commerce Department said today. Trade sales and manufacturers’ shipments were $1.83 trillion, down 1.3% from the month prior and down 1.2% from a year ago.

Saying that bank liquidity is “the next big-ticket item” for regulatory reform, top officials at the Treasury Department and Federal Reserve outlined their case for revisiting the liquidity coverage ratio to recognize discount window borrowing capacity.
