Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-Mo.) today announced that he will retire from Congress at the end of 2024. Luetkemeyer currently is chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on National Security, Illicit Finance and International Financial Institutions. He has served in Congress since 2009 and previously spent 30 years in the financial services industry working as a state banking examiner and community banker.

During a confirmation hearing, Bessent called for less regulation on banks and criticized credit card companies, although he stopped short of endorsing a campaign pledge by President-elect Trump to cap credit card interest rates at 10%.
