The American Bankers Association’s Health Savings Account Council today wrote to House Ways and Means Committee leaders urging them to support H.R. 3708, the Primary Care Enhancement Act. The bipartisan bill would allow direct primary care arrangements to be defined as a “qualified medical expense” under IRS regulations.
“Expanding the list of medical services that can be paid from a Health Savings Account to include these high value patient-doctor arrangements is common sense, cost-effective and part of the innovation other major medical insurance plans are able to implement without having to petition Congress,” the letter said.
