As part of its commitment to expanding the banking industry’s political engagement and growing a bipartisan, consensus-minded, pro-banking bench in Congress, ABA today released two new TV spots in support of candidates running in the 2018 midterm elections.
In partnership with the Arkansas Bankers Association, ABA is running an ad in support of Republican Rep. French Hill, a former banker and longstanding advocate of regulatory reform on the House Financial Services Committee. The ad highlights Rep. Hill’s leadership in passing commonsense regulatory reforms that will benefit communities in his district.
ABA released a second ad in partnership with the Maine Bankers Association supporting the re-election of Republican Rep. Bruce Poliquin, another Financial Services Committee member. The ad emphasizes Rep. Poliquin’s sustained support for pro-growth policies in Congress.
As the midterm elections approach, ABA will continue to enhance its political engagement in support of both Democratic and Republican candidates that have supported policies that will allow America’s banks to better serve their customers and communities. The association previously released ads in partnership with state associations in Montana and North Carolina supporting Democratic Sen. Jon Tester and Republican Rep. Ted Budd, and will continue to identify races where bankers’ support can make a difference in the outcome.
