The American Bankers Association today named Paul Benda as SVP for risk management policy. In this role, he will lead ABA’s policy efforts on cybersecurity, physical security and risk management practices.
Benda joined ABA from Global Security and Innovative Strategies, where he was a partner and chief technology officer. He previously held senior cybersecurity-focused posts at the Department of Homeland Security, including chief of staff; senior counselor to the undersecretary and acting deputy undersecretary in the DHS’ Science and Technology Directorate; and director of the Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency. He also worked at the Department of Defense and consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton and served as a U.S. Air Force officer.
“Paul brings an impressive depth of knowledge and experience in both physical and cybersecurity — areas that are of critical importance to the banking industry and top priorities for ABA,” said ABA President and CEO Rob Nichols. “We are delighted to welcome a professional of his caliber to our team.”
