The rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 3.89 percent this week, up from last week’s 3.84 percent, Freddie Mac said today. At this time last year, the 30-year FRM rate averaged 4.1 percent. This week’s 15-year FRM rate averaged 3.09 percent, up from last week’s 3.06 percent rate. A year ago, the 15-year FRM rate averaged 3.24 percent.
Banking agencies promise new approach for handling sensitive information
The Federal Reserve, FDIC and OCC announced a “coordinated approach” for handling sensitive information used in bank examinations, including a new pledge to notify banks about data breaches that threaten to expose that information.
