ABA Fraudcast: The legacy of The Tinder Swindler

Netflix

On this audio-only episode of the ABA Fraudcast, Paul Benda interviews Ayleen Charlotte, a victim of an intricate romance scam who told her story in the award-winning Netflix documentary The Tinder Swindler, who founded Scam Awareness and Fraud Education, and Pete Staffell, who uses behavioral science to develop training to help stop scams.

  • Ayleen Charlotte’s website is where you can find more info on her and her S.A.F.E. education program.
  • Pete Staffell’s UK firm Roll & Flow develops tools and services to stop scams. Staffell is formerly with Santander Bank and was a developer of that bank’s Break the Spell anti-fraud program, featured on the ABA Fraudcast in 2025.

ABA offers resources to help banks prevent, identify, measure and report fraud, and to serve and protect consumers. Go to aba.com/fraud for more information.
