The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau today published Home Mortgage Disclosure Act modified loan application registers for approximately 5,400 financial institutions. The modified LARs include the additional data points that certain institutions were required to report under the 2015 HMDA final rule, and today’s release marks the first time that this expanded data set has been made publicly available.
The bureau will publish additional HMDA-related information this year, including a complete loan level dataset and HMDA aggregate and disclosure reports, along with an analysis of key trends. As it prepares to release this additional information, the CFPB noted that it “anticipates applying particular rigor and analysis to address data anomalies, including in the new data points and describing the context in which the data may be best understood.”
