New orders for manufactured goods decreased 0.8 percent to $497.8 billion in July, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The decrease followed a 0.6 percent rise in June.
New orders for manufactured durable goods decreased 1.7 percent to $247.2 billion in July. Transportation equipment led the decrease, falling 5.2 percent to $83.0 billion.
Shipments of manufactured durable goods decreased 0.2 percent to $251.1 billion.
Inventories of manufactured durable goods, up twenty of the last twenty-one months, increased 1.3 percent to $408.6 billion.
