The Senate Banking Committee today voted unanimously to approve Hester Peirce and Robert Jackson as commissioners on the Securities and Exchange Commission and David Ryder as director of the U.S. Mint. The nominees will now move to the full Senate for confirmation.
Peirce, a Republican, is a former congressional senior staffer and a current fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. Jackson, a Democrat, is a law professor at Columbia University and a former investment banker and Treasury Department official. Ryder is an executive at Honeywell who previously served as director of the Mint during the George H.W. Bush administration.
