Freddie Mac yesterday reported a $1.7 billion profit for the second quarter, following earnings of $2.2 billion in the previous quarter. Freddie said it would pay a $2 billion dividend to the U.S. Treasury in September, bringing its total payments to $108.2 billion since it entered federal conservatorship in 2008.
