The ABA HSA Council’s Board of Directors met in Washington D.C., June 28-29 to discuss the future of health savings accounts in light of the elections this fall and to visit with members of Congress about pending legislation expanding contributions to HSAs. Among the lawmakers visited by the council was Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.), who recently outlined a proposal for a “Roth HSA” as part of broader health care legislation.
The HSA Council recently compiled a guide for banks related to HSA administration, which includes an introduction to HSAs and overviews of how to open an account, make contributions and close zero-balance or inactive accounts.
