ABA is urging bankers to take grassroots action in support of the Financial Regulatory Improvement Act, the financial reform proposal introduced by Senate Banking Committee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.). Shelby’s bill includes several regulatory relief provisions that are part of ABA’s Agenda for America’s Hometown Banks and that would enable banks of all sizes to better serve their customers. Letters from bankers are needed to build momentum for the bill to reach the Senate floor later this year.
“As Congress continues the critical process of determining the items to consider in the coming months, it is imperative that all bank employees contact their Senators to share their support for this important proposal,” ABA EVP James Ballentine said. Bankers can use ABA’s automated system to send customized letters urging their senators to co-sponsor the bills.
