Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will now allow all lenders the option to use VantageScore 4.0 to assess the creditworthiness of single-family mortgages, the government-sponsored enterprises announced today.
Fannie and Freddie last year rolled out a pilot program giving some lenders the option to use VantageScore 4.0 while still allowing use of the classic FICO score to assess the creditworthiness of mortgages. The GSEs announced today they have expanded the rollout to all approved lenders, which gives “another credit score option and represents continued progress toward a more modern and competitive credit score framework.”
In related news, the GSEs announced they are conducting a survey to better understand appraisers’ readiness for the Uniform Appraisal Dataset (UAD) 3.6 and the redesigned Uniform Residential Appraisal Report. The survey can be completed online.
