The American Bankers Association Foundation today announced the release of new free resources as part of its Unlocking Homeownership campaign, in recognition of June as American Housing Month.
The Unlocking Homeownership initiative equips banks of all sizes with practical tools, training and community-focused materials to strengthen homeownership education and counseling nationwide. Through this effort, banks across the country are helping individuals and families better understand the path to sustainable homeownership and the role it can play in building long-term financial stability.
This year’s new modules expand the campaign’s educational offerings, highlighting how homeownership can support long-term financial security. The resources provide practical guidance on financial readiness, credit and mortgage fundamentals, and the homebuying process, while also emphasizing that renting can be a strategic step toward eventual homeownership. Designed for use in communities nationwide, these materials help individuals make informed decisions, build financial resilience and achieve lasting success as homeowners.
Campaign resources are free and available to all registered banks, including both members and non-members.
“Homeownership remains one of the most effective ways to build generational wealth, and expanding access to financial education is key to making that opportunity more attainable,” said Lindsay Torrico, executive director of the ABA Foundation. “Through the Unlocking Homeownership campaign, banks are helping more individuals and families navigate the homebuying process with confidence and pursue sustainable homeownership.”
The campaign underscores the banking industry’s commitment to delivering timely, practical and accessible financial education that meets the needs of consumers and communities nationwide.
