Privately-owned housing starts in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.502 million, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. This was 10.8% above the revised February estimate of 1.356 million and is 10.8% above the March 2025 rate of 1.355 million.
Single-family housing starts in March were at a rate of 1.032 million, which was 9.7% above the revised February figure of 941,000. The March rate for units in buildings with five units or more was 446,000.
