ABA’s Health Savings Account Council recently wrote to Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.) in support of the HSA-related provisions of their proposal to reform the Affordable Care Act. With the Senate expected by some to attempt passing an ACA reform bill once more this month, the bill includes key provisions that would expand HSAs.
“The Senate continues to include the common sense HSA expansion provisions long championed by the industry and the millions of Americans we serve,” said ABA SVP Kevin McKechnie. In addition, ABA will urge the Senate to include two provisions that would allow Medicaid recipients access to HSAs, as was successfully done in Indiana under then-Gov. Mike Pence. “Medicaid beneficiaries should have access to the same innovative health insurance products as the rest of us,” McKechnie said.
