The ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking recognizes 237 graduates today, awarding Stonier diplomas and leadership certificates. ABA Chairman-Elect Dorothy Savarese — chairman, president and CEO of Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank in Orleans, Mass. — delivered the keynote address for the graduation ceremony, held on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
This year’s Stonier session had the largest enrollment in over 30 years, with a total of 680 students in attendance. This year’s attendees represent an increasingly diverse student body, with students from banks and organizations across the U.S. and 18 different countries. Seventeen percent of this year’s students came from government agencies.
Held at Penn’s Wharton School each summer for a week, Stonier’s intensive education program complements extension projects throughout the year. The three-year program convenes talented banking professionals working for community, regional or money center banks; regulatory agencies; and bank service organizations.
