All 53 state bankers associations today again urged members of the Senate to include regulatory relief measures in the government spending bill due next week.
“[Excessive regulation] acts as a chokehold on local consumers, homebuyers and small businesses and needs to be addressed,” the letter said. “The Financial Regulatory Improvement Act of 2015 represents a real opportunity to provide targeted relief in areas identified as warranting congressional attention.”
The letter comes after several days of grassroots efforts led by ABA encouraging bankers to call, email or tweet their state legislators. More than 20,000 signed ABA’s petition for reg relief.
