Congress returns today from its spring recess and its week ahead includes two hearings on regulatory burden. The first, to be held Wednesday by the House Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee, will exam burdens on non-depository financial institutions. The other, scheduled for Thursday in the Senate Banking Committee, will focus on regulatory burdens associated with obtaining mortgage credit.
The House Financial Services Monetary Policy and Trade Subcommittee will hold a joint hearing Wednesday on efforts to reform the Export-Import Bank, while the Housing and Insurance Subcommittee on Thursday will examine the future of housing in America and ways to increase private sector participation in affordable housing.
