Consumer credit reporting bureau Equifax announced today that the personal data of an additional 2.4 million Americans was implicated in last year’s high-profile data breach, bringing the total number of data breach victims to 147.9 million. The company discovered that the additional names and partial driver’s license numbers had been compromised during its ongoing analysis in response to the initial breach. Equifax noted that “in the vast majority of cases,” the compromised information did not include home addresses, driver’s license states, dates of issuance or expiration dates.
