Privately-owned housing starts in July were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.239 million, which was 12.4% below the revised June estimate and 13.5% below the July 2025 rate, according to the Census Bureau and Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Privately-owned housing units authorized by building permits in July were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.443 million, which was 5% above the revised June rate and 3.1% above the July 2025 rate. Privately-owned housing completions in July were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.212 million, which was 9.1% below the revised June estimate and is 16.8% below the July 2025 rate.
