Mark Calabria Confirmed to Lead Fannie, Freddie, FHLB Regulator

The Senate today voted 52 to 44 to confirm Mark Calabria as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency. A former senior staffer on the Senate Banking Committee and appointed official at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Calabria has been serving as chief economist to Vice President Mike Pence.

American Bankers Association President and CEO Rob Nichols congratulated Calabria. “We look forward to working with him as he carries out the many responsibilities at FHFA, including overseeing important segments of the housing finance system and engaging with Congress to resolve the longstanding conservatorships of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac,” he said.
