Former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has been added to the speaker lineup for the American Bankers Association’s Annual Convention, to be held Oct. 27-29 in Seattle. Ryan—the youngest speaker of the house in nearly 150 years—played a key role in the passage of the 2017 tax reform law.
Prior to assuming the role of speaker, Ryan was chairman of the House Ways and Means committee, where he worked to simplify the tax code, advance free trade and promote economic growth and opportunity. He also served as chairman of the House Budget Committee, and was tapped by Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) to serve as the vice presidential nominee on the 2012 Republican presidential ticket.
