New orders for manufactured goods decreased 0.1% to $479.6 billion in October, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The decline followed a 1.7% rise in September.
New orders for manufactured durable goods fell 0.8% to $237.4 billion in October. Transportation equipment led the decline, falling 4.2% to $77.4 billion.
Shipments of manufactured durable goods increased 0.4% to $242.0 billion.
Inventories of manufactured durable goods, up fifteen of the last sixteen months, increased 0.2% to $404.2 billion.
