The Treasury Department today launched a beta version of a website allowing consumers to see how tax dollars are spent. The site includes a breakdown of how funds are allocated in the federal budget, how funds are distributed to individuals, private contractors and local governments, and how much federal funds are spent in each state. Visitors to the site can also search for specific spending information by city, county, agency, federal program or corporation.
