The Securities and Exchange Commission is seeking comments on the disclosures publicly reporting bank holding companies are required to provide to investors.
Acknowledging that the industry has changed dramatically since the existing guidance was finalized in the 1970s, the SEC is soliciting feedback on whether the current disclosure standards provide sufficient information to investors, whether and how the current disclosures could be improved and whether other public companies in the financial industry should be required to provide similar disclosures.
ABA has long advocated a review of the existing guidance, and will submit a comment letter to the SEC. Comments are due 60 days after publication in the Federal Register.
