A former American Bankers Association chairman has been tapped to fill a vacant seat in the Ohio State Senate. Steve Wilson — chairman and retired CEO of LCNB National Bank, Lebanon, Ohio — has been picked by a Republican screening committee to fill the seat. His selection will be confirmed by Ohio’s Republican Senate caucus later this month. If confirmed, Wilson will serve until 2019 and be eligible to run for reelection.
Wilson served as ABA chairman in 2010-11. He will be the second former ABA chairman in recent years to serve in elective office. In 2014, Matt Williams — chairman and president of Gothenburg State Bank, Gothenburg, Neb., and ABA’s 2012-13 chairman — was elected to Nebraska’s unicameral state legislature.
