What’s the Points of Love?

February 15, 2016
Reading Time: 1 min read

For consumers seeking a romantic Valentine’s Day yesterday, steak and chocolate were the top gift redemptions on Maritz Motivation Solutions RewardSphere™, an online reward and incentive shopping site supporting consumer loyalty, credit card, employee recognition and sales incentive programs.

The site featured a special Valentine’s Day collection of some of the best sellers and popular brands to encourage participants to redeem points for gifting.  For the period from January 1 to February 1, the top three point redemptions specifically from Valentine’s Day collection were:

  1. Omaha Steaks filet mignon
  2. Godiva eight-piece gold ballotin
  3. Photo coasters

The top two female-oriented gifts were:

  1. Michael Kors women’s fragrance
  2. Guess heart necklace

The top two male-oriented gifts were:

  1. A personalized ballpoint pen
  2. Dolce & Gabbana men’s fragrance

“Program participants typically have a boost in their point issuance in January so it’s a good time to remind people to use their points for Valentine’s Day gifting,” said Casey Epley, Maritz Motivation Solutions campaign experience manager.  “There is usually an increase in points earned at the beginning of the year following holiday spending on credit cards and year-end sales incentives.”

And while we’re on the topic of love, Ally Bank conducted its second Love & Money Survey and found that a whopping 84 percent of Americans agree that romantic relationships are stronger and more satisfying when both participants are financially stable.

Go figure. The presence of money eliminates the need to argue over it.
