With a government spending bill due by Dec. 11, negotiations over what will go into it are reaching a fever pitch on Capitol Hill. ABA views the spending bill as the best chance of including bipartisan regulatory relief provisions that bankers are seeking.
“We have a small window of time between now and Dec. 11,” ABA’s Rob Nichols says in a video released today. “We are bombarding Capitol Hill with ads. We are pulling out all the stops to get it done.”
But Nichols added that bankers’ grassroots actions over the next three weeks are necessary “to really get reg relief over the finish line.” ABA is calling on bankers to participate on any or all fronts, including signing up for text alerts, signing a petition and calling and tweeting senators and representatives.
