ABA Chairman Dan Blanton recognized outgoing President and CEO Frank Keating for his achievements with a special presentation and video at ABA’s Annual Convention in Los Angeles today.
“Five years ago, our industry’s collective morale could not have been lower,” Blanton said. “We survived the great recession only to be slapped with Dodd-Frank. Our industry was every politician’s favorite punching bag.”
After his arrival at ABA in 2011, “Frank went to work speaking up for banking,” Blanton said. “On the Hill and on the air, he talked about a white-hat industry that needed relief from over-regulation in order to serve our customers and communities. He changed the conversation about banking and created a better policy environment for us.”
