In the first quarter, ABA spokespeople fielded 576 media calls and the association appeared in 543 news stories, according to the latest ABA Public Relations Quarterly Report. The top issues included legislation like the ABA-backed portfolio lending bill, data security and fraud, regulation, ag banking and money laundering.
ABA represented the banking industry in seven radio or television interviews, including appearances on MSNBC, Fox Business and NPR, and it placed five op-eds and letters to the editor in outlets like the Washington Post, USA Today and American Banker.
According to the report, the most downloaded customizable member resources were “4 Steps to Stop a Cyber Thief,” “7 Tips to Frustrate a Fraudster During Tax Season” and “5 Uses for Your Tax Refund.”
