Democrats took a majority of seats in the House and Senate, flipping party control of both chambers, according to unofficial results from Tuesday’s midterm elections.
Early this morning, the Associated Press reported that Democrats had won 228 of the 218 House seats required for a majority, compared to 139 seats held by Republicans, with 68 races left to call.
In the Senate, Democrats will hold 54 seats compared to 44 seats held by the Republicans. The Senate races in Alaska and Mississippi were too close to call.
