The University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index decreased 7.6% in August compared to the month prior, landing at 51, according to preliminary results for the month. Sentiment was down 12.4% year over year. The current conditions index fell 5.5% from the month prior to 51.8. The index of consumer expectations decreased 8.7% from the month prior to land at 50.6.
